Johnny Cash was one of the first guest stars to appear on the hit CBS series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, where he played Kid Cole, a gunslinger-turned-sheriff suffering from consumption and tuberculosis. He portrayed the role four times across the show’s six seasons, accompanied three times by June Carter Cash as Sister Ruth, his love interest and later on-screen wife. Cash became friends with star Jane Seymour offscreen, who named her son after him; her then-husband, James Keach, also produced the Oscar-winning Walk The Line, a 2005 biopic about Johnny and June.
