Johnny Cash

Throughout his entire career, Johnny Cash was a vocal supporter of Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

In 1964, he released Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian. He faced censorship and backlash for speaking out against their mistreatment, with many radio stations across the country refusing to play the record, but Cash stood strong.
